Facebook is planning to link Whatsapp, Instagram and Facebook Messenger together to allow users to message contacts across the three platforms.
Facebook is planning to merge all these services together to build a larger collective user-base to rival that of Apple’s iMessage or Google’s messaging services. It’s long been a direction that Zuckerberg has wanted to take Facebook since buying Whatsapp. All told across all three platforms its estimated that Facebook has approx over 2.5bn unique users registered.
Unfortunately, many of those users will be mainly thinking about Facebooks’ shockingly poor data security practices after a recent series of horrific data breaches. The #DELETEFACEBOOK movement gathered some momentum over this time, but didn’t seem to impact the active monthly user figures across the three platforms during its height.
